CQC Rating

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded an Outstanding rating again after our latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection earlier in the year.

The CQC rated the practice Outstanding overall, as well as for its effectiveness and leadership, while also awarding Good ratings for safety, caring and responsiveness.

We are very proud of our team’s hard work and dedication to patient care, and delighted that the CQC has recognised this effort and success. We’ve built on our previous Outstanding rating from 2015, improving our existing services and creating additional services and initiatives to support health improvement.

Among the successes recognised by the CQC are the innovative work of the practice’s dedicated home visiting team, which provides continuity of care and has been shown to reduce the number of hospital admissions. The practice has also extended the home visiting team to support patients who were unable to attend the practice for a review of their long-term conditions. Other initiatives that the CQC commended included the practice’s work supporting cancer patients and promoting physical activity in patients and staff as an ‘Active Practice’.

The CQC report identified the work done to develop and nurture staff, saying they were “very positive about the support they received from managers in completing training and developing their roles. We found that, where staff had particular interests in a health topic or had identified ways of improving the service for patients, they had been supported through appraisal, mentorship and training to develop new roles.”

The report also included many positive comments from patients and a care home representative who contributed to the review. Patients told the CQC the care provided was exceptional. That staff were kind, caring, professional, helpful, friendly and compassionate. Patients gave examples where the staff working in the practice had gone the extra mile.

The CQC also recognised the active role of the practice’s Patient Participation Group (PPG) that works closely with the practice. Among other activities, PPG members have been helping with drop-in sessions to support patients to use the NHS App and have organised education sessions for patients.

A huge well done and thank you to all our staff, our PPG and all the other people, organisations and services who work with us to provide the care we give to our patients.
